Does the VA offer any help in dealing with creditors. MOHELA, a student loan company wrongly reported a late payment to a credit card company and my credit went from 650 to 490. And I'm in the process of trying to buy a house. I've talked to a lawyer, but he's expensive.

I don't know about the VA, but you can dispute something directly to the credit agency. They are required to investigate, and (I believe) they are required to remove/ignore derogatory info while investigating.

Go to http://www.LexingtonLaw.com they will research your credit file & will remove incorrect information & anything else that can't be
disputed without a paper trail they found several debts on my record that the debt collector couldn't back up with the original paperwork & they got them removed immediately!
Well worth the $80 @ month fee to get them to do all the work!
I give them a ☆☆☆☆☆ rating
