In the process of switching from NG to AD

Hello Specialist,
I am currently in the process of a DD Form 368 Conditional Release. Your recruiter that signs you DD Form 368 is the best resource that could help you find positions available but like others have stated it will change between now and when your conditional release is approved. After it is approved you will attend meps and that is where you will be given your actual duty station. I recently sent mine up so hopefully, in a few months, I will have feedback on whether it is approved or not and then I will look to see what is available and go back to meps. I do not plan on looking just yet because it can change and I don't want to get my hopes up.

Check the in/out calls.

There's a lot of green judging from the quick glance I did which means there should be plenty of options. Just remember though, when making this jump you're more often than not at the mercy of the Army.

Reclassification Opportunities
An awarded MOS, especially the PMOS, represents significant time and effort, both to the Army and the Soldier. Theneeds of the Army will be the overriding factor in reclassification actions.

You'll tell them what your choice(s) is(are) and if that lines up with what they need, you'll get it. If not, they'll offer you things where they have holes.

So you have to first understand that asking a Regular Army Recruiter to help you prior to having a Conditional Release is against USAREC Regulations. Yes he can help you and some do but if they get caught or you tell your Chain of Command, that Recruiter can get into a lot of trouble for Recruiting from the National Guard or Reserves which is a No-No. So just tell the Recruiter you need a rough ballpark statement of what the spread is on available MOS' BEFORE you ask for a Conditional Release so that you can get placed before the Conditional Release ends. Then mention the MOS' your interested in. You have to approach the AD Recruiter knowing he can get burned if you let it slip he helped you or if he gets caught helping you via the NG or even sometimes the Station Commander can prohibit this.
When I transferred to the AD from NG in 1984 I ran into the same brick wall but just a little persuasion to the AD Recruiter and you telling them that you know your asking them to bend the rules a bit helps.

The only way to get a 368 is if you go to the recruiter, so I’m not sure how that’d be against regulations.

SPC (Join to see) - I used to work at USAREC HQ at Ft. Knox in the 1990's and you can even ask the Recruiter if you do not believe me. It is against Regulations for an Active Duty Recruiter to help you while you are serving in the National Guard and/or Reserve unless you have a signed conditional release. Think about it for a moment, he would be raiding one service branch to satisfy another. Giving you a Conditional Release is not really helping you and to be honest you should be able to download one from GKO or AKO. Letting you see open MOS's and encouraging you to go Active Duty is helping you. Additionally, he is not going to get as many points (probably no points) helping you to switch to AD from the Reserve......versus spending time with a Recruit off the street. So his supervisor (Recruiting Station Commander........usually a SFC) could have made it Station Procedure NOT to spend time with Prior Service that are enlisted in the NG or USAR. You won't know until you ask him/her what the deal is.

SPC Erich Guenther - I'm not saying I don't believe you. My NCO and the recruiter didn't mention anything.
