How do I cross over from Army NG to AF Special Ops?

I have a 6x2 contract with the Army National Guard. The 6 years is done in March. During my 4th year, I discovered the Air Force had Special Operations. No idea why I had never heard of JTAC, CCT, PJ... But then I started digging, wanted the active duty life style and wanted to be CCT. Talked to the recruiter, got a great one, and he worked his ass off to get me the documents and clearance. My MOS in the Army is 19D Cavalry Scout.
However, as we all know, paperwork disappears in the military and 5 months later I had a signed and modified version of my DD - 368 release form and got shafted on going green-to-blue due to my release form expiration date... Well, expiring.
My plan is to get out of the Guard in March, and then walk on down to the recruiter and begin the process all over again with the Air Force. CCT is the goal, and I won't settle for anything less. It will probably be a different recruiter, but as the previous one told me: "Special Operations needs soldiers badly. There are always open slots for it. But you're prior service, so you might have to wait for a slot to open up." So I know if I get the go-ahead from the Spec Ops liaison, it's just a waiting game until a slot opens up.
Are my steps correct? Am I doing this in the most common sense way? Will my 2 years in the federal reserve component hinder me in signing a new contract with the Air Force?
This is my only option. I don't enjoy civilian jobs, I get most satisfaction out of the military, I love the life style, and I have a family to feed. The OIC at home is all for it and is in full support, so I don't need to worry about her trying to sway my choice. Any and all input will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Unless you’re dead set on being a CCT why don’t you stay army and go to SFAS? if you make it you can go to a school that teaches you the same things that the CCTs get but you’re not a support guy. Just saying it’s an option

Simeon I have done a little work with the different parts of the AF SOF over the years, great bunch of guys. Not to mention they are a great asset to have.
I recommend going to see the AF recruiter first thing.

Changing over to the Air Force and AFSOC isn’t hard. I switched from green to Blue years ago. Your plan is solid. I would try to find a CCT or TACP member you could talk to (hopefully on RP) to give you more insight on the training requirements.
One thing you need to be prepared for is that AF special ops is hard. The failure rate for CCT is fairly high. So if for some reason you don’t make it, the AF will reclassify you into another job of their choosing. Often, it’s Security Forces (MP’s of the Air Force). You will be tied to that contract for the duration.
You current obligation should have no impact on getting the job, they will just roll the time into your new enlistment.
