I was in ROTC 1968-1970, did basic training at Ft. Benning 6 weeks 1968, AIT at Ft. Lewis 6 weeks 1969; commissioned as 2nd Lt. in 1970; deferred while in law school 1970-73; when time for active duty I was given the option of 2 years active, 6 years reserve, or 6 months active and 8 years reserve which is what I chose. Active duty at Armor school at Ft. Knox September 1973-March 1974; discharged I believe in 1980 or 1981 as a Captain. Curious about what benefits I may be entitled to?

CPT David Roark education, vocational, health or disability compensation?

Recommend tagging your post with the VA as they have presence on RP.

Here are Fact Sheets for VA benefits eligibility.https://benefits.va.gov/BENEFITS/factsheets.asp

Thank you Colonel Mackay. I confess, I don't know how to tag my post. I have gone on the website and think I got the answers I need, but if you don't mind letting me know how to tag my post I would appreciate it. Thank you.

The 38 CFR has basically everything head-to-tow what qualifies you for Disability Compensation. I used this to get a grasp of what i can actually claim and what the VA considers to be more superficial and it helped out a lot with not wasting time.

Sir, you can also locate a Veterans Service Organization (VSO) to assist you with determining your benefits. The VA has a process that requires approval by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. VSOs are trained on state, local, disability compensation, education, health care, burial, life insurance and home loans. VSOs DO NOT CHARGE for their services. They work for the Veterans. They will assist with anything from questions to filling out and uploading paperwork. To find a VSO near you http://www.va.gov/vso make sure to click VSO Representative and you can search by city and state or you may also search through your ebenefits account.
