PVT (Join to see) What SFC (Join to see) said and also you would be going to an airborne unit. The Army quit sending everyone and their brother and sister to Airborne School years ago. The finally figured that there were a ton of joes that went to airborne school and never were assigned to an airborne unit.

Go onto the HRC website and contact your branch manager. Sometimes they will come down to the AIT and ask for volunteers as well.

I don't know if you are still able to log in to your assignment manager (or whatever it is called these days) and select "Airborne Preferred" but it may be something to look in to. I don't know if AIT students have access to that yet since AKO wasn't really a thing when I went through Basic and AIT. If you do get the green light to attend, make sure you get your airborne physical before departing AIT. When I went through they wouldn't see them on Benning if they didn't have that done. They sent them on to Bragg, and Bragg had to send them back after it was complete.
