I’m wondering how to get attached to SFG? Is there a requirement or you can just walk in there office and ask? Or your unit have to send you there? Or you can ask you chain of command about it?

Contact your Branch manager, they should be able to help you. Being Airborne is a Requirement.

What I would suggest is to build your worth with your current Command. Show them you are valuable. Then get your chain of Command to possibly reach out to branch when you hit your time on station requirement

Call your branch manager. This is a regular assignment that branch handles, SORB does not do support assignments, only if you wish to become an operator.

There are SF recruiting/recruiters on every Army post. Being Airborne is helpful. If you want to remain in your current MOS you can ser e in a GSB or the support BDE. upon assignment you will udergo 2-3 weeks of training to indoctrinate you and make sure your the right fit for SF. Good luck!

You probably have an assigned at Bragg, just not showing up on your records. The only option at this moment, very low probability to happen, is to contact your branch manager at HRC and try to get you to 1st SFC. From there it will be up to them.

Generally, there is no attached. You get assigned. If you meet the prerequisites you can reenlist for an assignment there.

You're in training, which should mean that you already have orders to an airborne assignment.

SGT (Join to see) no, you don't qualify for that. You can reenlist for it later.

SFC (Join to see) wasnt trying to have him backdoor a job, but when I was at 1SFG we had a kid come over from the ESB and say he wanted to come to us. We built a packet, interviewed, and took it to the 1SG to try and work something. It was a few months later and the kid was able to move. Understanding it was more the exception to than the rule, and in this case the unit was cool with losing the Soldier, it could be an option. Either way thanks for the info.

WO1 John C. that is true, there is a way to do it. But, that requires one unit to release, the other unit to accept, and HRC to authorize the transfer based on strengths. Which is still a no-cost PCS and still takes a lot longer than reenlisting for an assignment and has a much lower chance of success. We did the same thing in Okinawa, but HRC denied most of the requests because of strengths. The other option is to be attached, which is what we did with MI Soldiers and the occasional 68W for the clinic. But those are temporary and an 88M1P isn't important enough of a skill set to be requested for long term support unless the unit is deploying and critically short.

WO1 John C. I guess I should point out that the one way to do it is to simply call the Branch Manager and ask them to reroute. Usually their response is that if they were needed in the other unit more, that's where they would be going. But I have had some luck with HRC swapping guys into SFG as long as they meet the three requirements : Airborne, Secret Clearance, 100 GT

Gain some knowledge and experience in a normal unit doing your MOS related tasks, that’s what SFGs are looking for and need.
