So I went from basic to AIT here at Fort Huachuca and because I'm here for 42 weeks in my orders it says I can have my vehicle and a house if I had a family. I'd like to get my vehicle here to make life a little more enjoyable but I'm not sure how to go about it? It's my understanding that the DoD reimburses you for one vehicle move? Do I even qualify for it because my PCS was from basic? Any help or advice would be appreciated, I already talked to a shipper about a quote who handles lots of military deals. Thanks!

Before you agree to anything, call the Joint Personal Property Shipping Office JPPSO and ask them. They handle this And will give you instructions and documentation.

I highly suggest you get with your chain of command to ensure your orders actually authorize you to do what you think they do. They will direct you where you need to go for this process.

Yes you can Have your vehicle with you. However, the Army does not and will not pay for POV to be shipped CONUS to CONUS. They only pay CONUS to OCONUS and vice versa.

How do I get reimbursed for shipping my vehicle?

Because you are in IET status, you are not authorized shipment of personal property at government expense.

And I would image that the cadre is not going to allow him to use his POV while at AIT so even if he could get it shipped it would probably wind up sitting in a parking lot gathering dust. The only people I've ever seen be allowed to use POVs during AIT were the guys who were there reclassing. TPTB are not going to want PVT Snuffy driving around town on the weekends.

Some IET are authorized shipment of personal property at government expense, depending on the length of their AIT. They can take their POV as well because some IET soldiers have families that need to use a vehicle. The soldier will not be able to use the vehicle for school purposes.

I see you’re a 35F. Did you notice the 35Ts at Huachuca? They’re there for almost a year. Some of them have houses on and off post.

Pretty sure DoD doesn't ship vehicles in CONUS.

As others have said you won’t be able to ship it. That’s what the roads are for. If you are allowed to after the the travel ban has been lifted then the only way you are getting your car is taking leave and driving the car there from where ever it may be. The Army never ships a vehicle state to state except Hawaii. But I would still get with your Company and make sure they allow you to have a car and at what phase.

You're not getting paid to ship your car and you won't be allowed to get it yourself until travel restrictions are over. On your next PCS move they will pay you millage to drive your car to your next duty station or ship it over seas.
