How do soldiers get treated that transfer to the Marines? Do they get treated as prior-service at boot camp? How does all that work?

You’re a recruit like any other. Any rank you retain isn’t worn until after graduation.

Going any branch to the Marine Corps, you will be starting over. You have to earn the title.

If you went Army to Navy or Air Force, you would retain your rank.

Yeah... in the Marines you earn the title... then earn the rank (back)

Count on losing at least one stripe
