So for all the vets here, how do y'all deal with someone trying to call you "Stolen Valor" in a polite way? Even if they are being aggressive about it? I've been out on a MEB for almost a year now and there's a store in my state with "Superhero Parking" for Vets, Active Duty, Law enforcement and firefighters, while I haven't parked there yet, I'm sure once I do someone will attempt to say something about it. I have my VA Card and my driver's license says Veteran on it and I have an entire album in my phone with pictures of my army times. Now what if this isn't enough to get them to back off? How can I politely tell them they're wrong and to drop the situation?

This is what I would do. I periodically see such displays of civilian stupidity and personally choose to not participate in them. Maybe you should make the same choice. That way your never frustrated, humiliated or have to engage in who has the better service story of sacrifice. Personally, I never seek out the discounts on Veterans Day either. So my advice would be to just drive past that parking space and park with everyone else.

Some will not care no matter what you can show them. I would ignore them, YET be aware of your surroundings, there are nuts out there!!!

I personally have not experienced this problem. I generally would tell that person to go fuck themselves.I served from 1969 to 1971 with 1 year as a grunt in Vietnam. I have taken several albums whith photos. They are on line at---alphaco.us---. If they want to look them up they can. I do know of a fellow from my hometown who claimed that he was a Vietnam combat vet but his age didn't work out with the dates of the war. I checked him out and found that he was in the Army and served honorably in Germany. It is pretty easy for a combat vet to tell if someone is faking it. I just let it go and figure that if this person is an asshole, let him be an asshole.

Tell 'em, "$50 says I can prove I'm a vet. Now either bet me or shut the fuck up. And let's see the money, first." Check that. Actually finish with "Show me the money first, dickhead." You want to provoke them into doing it, afterall.

It's never happened to me, but if it did, I'd just whip out my wallet and show my Retiree ID Card.

About 10 plus years ago I was in Lowe's. One of the employees saw my hat or T-shirt, don't recall which. And asked if I was a Veteran. I said yes, Army. He asked if I had been to Vietnam. I said no. He then told me he had been to Vietnam. And that I was not a Veteran. Unless I had been. I looked at him puzzled and just walked away. Wondering how a Veteran could think that way? It finally dawned on me reading this posting, he was probably a poser. So possibly a "stolen valor" bozo was calling me out. :-)
Funny Chit indeed.

Bro, tell em fuck em. You don't have to prove shit to anyone. This stolen valor stuff has gotten way out of hand. I'm very close to someone who was actually incarcerated for an accusation. He was never charged with stolen valor. But got charged with theft because they said he received money he wasn't entitled to. He was. Not only was he he is a purple heart recipient. If you want, show them your va card and your license. That's undisputable proof you're a veteran. And to all those assholes who want to call someone out, be sure. Be very sure. Because if it happens to someone like me... I'm not going to be polite about it. I might just stomp a mud hole in your ass and smile when the police cuff me.

My local grocery store has four vet parking places. Usually all full of anything but Vets. Unless 16 yo high school girls can be vets???. If you want to park in a Vet space just park, you shouldn't have a problem. If someone does give you shit, hit em in the mouth.
