How do you feel about SFL-TAP and all the courses have to offer?

I honestly believe it is a two way street. TAP has much to offer however there are many resources and programs that aren't mentioned, that I only discovered outside of the military.

On the other hand, S/M's need to take transition more seriously. As I sat through a resumé writing worskshop, there was a fellow soldier how just went off a basic template online to complete his resumé. Didn't listen in class and utilized the computers to be on facebook. Even when asked why he was doing this, he said he just didn't want to be there.

I think the comic you posted hits spot on! So many individuals feel as they got that hook up on a job, and they are promised this from a friend. Without doing research or creating other options, they don't do ANYTHING. Overall more needs to be done on both ends. So to end, I will quote the old saying "Failing to prepare is preparing to fail."

SFL-TAP is great...if you pay attention in class.

Once you are out of the military, you have to commit to being a civilian, you can't keep reliving your glory days, or keep talking about it to everyones. No one cares, your a civilian now, so you have a steep learning curve to adjust to how everyone else in America does things, there is no NCO or Officer who is going to give you a cookie cutter template to answers.

So take advantage of the resources offered. If you want to do school, that's fine but, realize that you will still have to pay for things like health insurance and schedule your own medical appointments and no one is going to do that for you. Plus, paying your bills and maintaining your own stuff is solely your responsibility. There is a LOT of information and it can be hard to digest but, use the VA and the SFL-TAP office to ask as many questions as you can, so you can be best prepared. This is the rest of your life now.
