I recently encountered a junior soldier who wore a patch I didn't recognize who was walking around outside in a VERY ate-up uniform. I showed him my ID card and identified myself and explained to him where he was wrong and asked him to correct the deficiencies. At which point, the soldier told me to go f*** myself and then tried to fight me. Now, the grunt in me got really excited and couldn't wait to wall-to-wall this young soldier, but the professional in me simply wouldn't allow it. So I asked what unit the soldier belonged to, to which he responded "To your f***ing mama, b****." Now RP Leaders, how would you suggest I go about rectifying this situation, or should I simply leave it be and let the Karma catch up with him?

**ADMIN NOTE** I still have not been able to find the patch and it's corresponding unit, so I have no way of finding this soldier's Command.

Not recognizing a patch isn’t as big a problem compared to everything else you described.

Nothing really matters if you can’t identify the Solider and their parent command.

It wasn't like that when I was in the Army. The slightest infraction caused you to get extra duty, an Article 15, or even a court marshal. Things changed after VN. But things like this have to be addressed. The big question here is why would the company this soldier belonged too, did not get on his case and tell him to straighten out his shit. When I was in the 82nd Airborne, even the need of a haircut, you were told to get it cut or else.

If he tried to fight you. Why dident you stomp his ass. Ucmj dont say you cant use force to detain arrest or bring to justace anyone who is violating lawful orders. If your off post it may be a stolen valor Fuck lawfullly acting under free speech law unless he making a profit from his actions. Off post mind your own business unless you know them

When I was in the United States Army back in the mid-60s you did not see much of this going on, but if you did and the individual was challenging your authority, well than you did what any good soldier did you went into the ring and settled it there and that was the end of it.

OMG. Back in the day, even in the "Chair Force" I was in over 40 years ago, there would have been a junior enlisted man in the base hospital getting my size 12 EE combat boot removed from his butt! No way in hell is some punk going to do that to anyone, let alone a superior and get away with it.

Hello I was in the Army for 13 years. I was at the store General Jackson and a 1st SGT was stand there with his hands in his pockets in his uniform. So I walked up and said 1st SGT you might want to take your hands out of your pockets because in the store there were lower ranking solders like PVT'S,SPC'S and he gave me and attitude. I think he was mad because I corrected him.

As a Specialist, you probably should have found an NCO and let him know the situation. If there wasn't any around, you are obligated to correct him with an on-the-spot talking (just as you did), and walk away. Any good NCO would have that troop standing tall in his Commander's office so fast it would make his head spin.

With no more information I wonder if this guy is actually a real soldier. Sounds like a civilian to me.
