In a recent issue that I've encountered, not mine but a fellow NCO, the question came up of "what is our units UIC?"  Now past experience tells me I can go to other fellow NCO's, senior NCO's, S-1 and even the internet to research it, but where does the UIC stem from and how would one go about looking it up just in case trust is an issue?  Second question, what UIC is used on an NCOER, the company's or battalion?

SSG McIntosh,

The Unit Identification Code Search System is here:  http://www.dmdc.osd.mil/appj/uicss/ .

Not everyone has access rights, though.

I would recommend using the Zip Code Search, expanding the radius to 5 miles.

And the one used on your ERB is the one used on the NCOER.  They should match.
