How do you measure success in your job as a Chaplain?

Chaplains have an interesting job in that everyone has for us, but these expectations are not always stated. We have OERs, denominational reports, friends we connect with in the corps, and, of course, we're ultimately accountable to God. But I'm wondering if there are any specific things you do or look for in your vocation to measure your success.

No. Success as a chaplain is hard to verify. How can we tell whether stopping to have a conversation with a soldier kept them from committing suicide or prevented some other issue? How can we measure and say we did a poor job when these negative things happen; yet we did the best we could in the situation and it still turned out poorly?
Take care of your soldiers/sailors, and (hopefully) the command will know you are doing a good job.
