AR670-1 lays out the religious process. The Chaplain and your BDE level commander validated it.
Your medical provider determines if you need one and it’s entered into MEDPROS. You then have access to a printed copy which will warm your 1SG’s heart.

Well said! I believe that is the most eloquent and precise answer on that subject I have ever seen. ;-)

Depends on whether you are doing it for medical or religious purposes. You would go to medical or the Chaplain depending on what’s applicable

If there is something actually wrong with you then see your PA. If you want to be part of the cool guys then go try out for one of the elite forces.

If someone has a path where I can get a religious beard without denying Jesus Christ, I'm in!
Any beard required Christian groups recruiting?

Title VII of the CRA requires reasonable accommodation of employee's sincerely held religious beliefs, it does not state "if some particular religious council deems it a requirement."
Now, how strongly do you feel about Leviticus 19:27 & 21:5. If you need New Testament reinforcement, then you might consider 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 as to the reason for following even the "old" rules.

I know Orthodox Catholics who have received religious exemptions but oddly enough I don’t know a single Orthodox chaplain with a beard. Personally, I followed Navy regulations until I retired. Now I have a long Orthodox beard.

A true Nazarite could qualify. Relious beliefs surrounding the swearing to never cut one's hair or beard are found in the book of Judges. As a Nazarite (have taken a Nazarite Oath) I taught USMC 1161s and Army 91Cs. With ponytail to my butt and beard to my navel I taught.

Besides the religious and medical reasons aforementioned, one could play Santa for the FRG Christmas Party. You wouldn't need to bother with growing it. One would be issued with the suit.

Maybe they wouldn’t have to spend so much money on recruiting and enlistment bonuses if they allowed beards.

Back when I was in (the stone age according to my students) you had to go to the dispensary and they could issue you a no shaving chit. I had one because my face was breaking out due to the sweat of the skullery. The mess Sergeant didn't like it and gave me hell for it. It still had to be trimmed to less than a quarter of an inch.
If it were a chronic condition the Marines process you for a discharge for psedoflictolitis barbae. (I know I misspelled that) I saw many African Americans get discharged for it because they couldn't conform to grooming standards. For some reason when they shaved the hairs would start growing under the skin instead of pushing through and create bumps which made shaving impossible without blood shed.

I have a sneaky hunch that someday a "regulation beard" will be a military requirement, perhaps varying by rank.

From what others have told me for a shaving profile you will need to go to your doctor with your face all jacked up basically after you shave to show that person you need a shaving profile. They will need to see proof and not just take your word for it.
