Knowing how you react to adversity and calming yourself so that you provide intelligible, understood and appropriate guidance / orders is essential. In some cases it could be life or death, in others it will be a lost sensitive item or a failed mission. Are you truly adding value to the situation as a leader or increasing the stress level and reducing the efficiency of all involved? You should truly be your calmest when the stakes are highest.

Bad news, AKA adversity, I generally meet with determination to overcome and defeat. A little adversity gives you focus; a lot of adversity builds character.
Sometimes though, enough bad news gets thrown at you that it can overwhelm you. That is when you need your teammates, family, and the Good Lord to pick you up.
