How do you suggest a change to Rallypoint rules?

Can we get a change to the rules forbidding people from tagging other users when they first create a post (not in the comments on the post)??? It's annoying, distracting, and it's clearly only a ploy for points. It's comparable to when search engine optimizers cheat and put stuff in the meta-tags just to get searches.
If you post something in one of the areas where I've flagged I have an interest in, I'll see it. If not, maybe I'll see it if I scroll through long enough, but if you tag me in the creation of a post, what you're basically saying is "I'm going to demand your attention, and I don't give a shit about what you want to see. " The higher in rank you are when you do this, the more of a failure in leadership you are... Mocking or otherwise chastising me for this also indicates a failure of leadership.

Let me add my two cents...as a long term member and now one of the senior user admins, I cannot start to tell you how tagging me in posts annoy me. Please, feel free to tag me if it's something to do with me or with you having a problem on the site but if you're just doing for points, please don't tag me. I think the whole points system has lost it's meaning because there are people that I classify as point hunters. These people will make 10+ posts a day, make comments such as "great share" without adding anything else to the conversation and just run after points. I've been on RallyPoint for years and I'm more concerned over posting quality information rather than having millions of useless points.
I would love to see this type of idea moved on and now you have the attention of SSG Carlos Madden and other user admins which is a good thing. We are here to make RallyPoint the go to social media site for Service Members and Veterans to share their ideas and thoughts about the things that we care about and this idea is a good step in that direction.

On technical sites all users are alloted a set number of points that they can use (or lose) during that day to vote on ideas (threads in our case here). You can use all of your points on a single post (+15) or spread them over 15 posts (+1 each). It will take some calculations to figure out how many points each person should get. i.e.: 15 pts/day? 30 pts/day? Once a person has accumulated X many points they become some level of influencer and get some bonus points each day that they can then use on other people's posts. Leaders raise more leaders!
Part of why I am suggesting this is when I look at the days I get a lot of points (if 600 being my biggest day) I realize the majority of those points comes from the humor topic. Yes, humor is fun. It lightens the day. It does not have long term meaning though, nor does it help someone transition to civilian life, or dozens of other important items in life.
If I had 15 points to use today, I probably would look for the impactful posts to use those on. While I might thumb-up 100 humor/coffee posts today, only 3 or 4 would get my points today.

Once you hit a million points, it doesn't really matter anymore. And I'm not like climate change scientists who I want 97% of my people to vote that they agree with me or I kick them out of the science feel like what's happening in climate change science. I have had it once or twice for someone told me to please not tag them anymore or they blocked me. So be it. I care about their sensitivities. I just figured that information that I get from where I live in Canada should be given out to those who respect and like me or even oppose me so they can come and give a rebuttal. This is not like getting money for recruiting like you did 15 years ago during the surge. If I have a political cartoon or something that I think is funny, I want to share to those that I know. I generally don't select those I don't know. Just my personal opinion

Wish I had an answer for this. It bugs me too even though I've posted both ways in the time I've been here. And I would add the same goes for those trailblazer awards on a post. I see some users with 40 or more "first responses" which, in my mind means 40x250=10,000 pts each day. I've also seen similar threads over the last few months and it appears the majority don't care enough to make this an important item. <shrug/>

SSgt (Join to see) you might wish to recompute your Trailblazer points. A trailblazer, first response, only receives 100 points. A nice response, 10 upvotes receives 250 points.

There have been multiple threads about the point system and the abuse of it that degrades the RP user experience but the owners appear to just not care about it, or believe the current system is good. With some exceptions, IMO, many of the so called top influencers are actually simply spammers. They post no content posts in every single thread. On most forums they would be warned and then banned for that behavior. But on RP they get awards. It's nuts. They post in every thread, yet they never actually state their opinions or thoughts on the topic or share any of their experiences with the community. They never engage in any sort of back and forth discussion. They fire their one spam bullet and leave. And then they are recognized for their "voluminous contributions" that contribute nothing.

You can always put an a blanket opt-out feature for tagging. I have a life with two jobs and I sometimes work 80 hours in a week but I still like to receive important information. It does not bother me. I don't consider this to be a safe space.

I'm only here for the posts and connection to fellow Vets. RP points are not on my list of goals. You will find some interesting and informative posts here, and the opportunity to share it with others. It's much more civil than much of social media, and even administered. Plus it's free.
