For those that have been in a minute, how do you make contact and speak to your branch managers ? What tips do you have that'll increase the chances of getting what you want?

I assume you are addressing the civilian world, which is complex. The chain of command exists, no UCMJ, therefore, using that chain of command may result in undesirable results. You may be unduly classified as a threat, therefore, use your wits to set up a face to face with him/her with many witnesses. Tactfully express your concerns, undoubtedly, one of the witnesses will be asked for opinions. Here is where you will find your team.

It depends on what you want to do. Talking to branch does not guarantee you get the assignment you "want".

You can talk to branch all you want, but there still needs to be availability at the location you want to go to.

I would recommend emailing your respective Branch Manager, and inquiring about the available locations to you.

You can find them a few ways, on hrc under career I think? I usually use ACT and when you look at your career path/plans there is also branch tabs there.

Then you find the branch manager for your mos/rank and email them.

As for getting what you want:
- ask what's open so you aren't just demanding.
- have an idea of what you want and how to justify it being a good move for progression.
- at the end of the day it comes down to what the army needs if they are hurting in x, y, or a place.
