How does accepting a stateside E-5 spot, while deployed, impact when you get promoted?

If you start off in a unit and they deployed, and get offered a Sgt spot for a different unit back state side. Will you get pinned Sgt while you are deployed or will they make you wait until you are back state side? Also if they do pin you while deployed, how long does that process take to show after accepting the position?

Typically in the Guard you would get the promotion while deployed. I saw that for a number of troops when I was deployed. Keep in mind you may still be in a slot of an E-4 in your current unit. Meaning don't expect them to move you into E-5 slot automatically, unless one in your unit is Vacant. Talk to your 1SG and or CSM.

You will probably have to submit this RFI to your S1, but if it's a SGT slot in a unit stateside, you may very well have to wait until you get back. But, stranger things have happened.

If you are eligible for pin on (BLC complete) they can transfer you and promote you within the state while you are deployed, and that promotion order will need to get processed for active duty pay for the your deployment.
If you don't have BLC complete, you won't pin on until after you graduate.

Thank you. I completed BLC back in 2018. So I guess I'm just waiting for them to do the paperwork side of it.
