How does your Commander's performance on their PT test influence your opinion of them?

Do you think more or less of a commander if they get the maximum score possible on their APFT (or whatever test your respective service takes)? During my enlisted days I don't think I ever had a commander who was a PT stud. If I had a commander who couldn't pass a PT test I might honestly think less of them, but I don't know if they really need to blow it out of the water. Thoughts?

if your trying your hardest and puking when you cross the finish line than ok I can work with that, they just need a few extra pt sessions..

if I had a commander that couldn't pass a pt test I would most definitely look down on them. how can you expect your soldiers to kick ass on their pt test if you cant lead the way on yours?

It really depends on the organization and the standards you hold sir. I set the bar high for my soldiers and encourage them to beat me. I don't believe you need to be a 300 stud. But if my commander was barely passing I wouldn't be too enthused to put in maximum effort

I only read a couple of the comments, failing a pt test is one thing but what always has lowered my opinion is the pencil whipping, if u can't be honest about ur test, what kind of leader are u really?

I've seen soldiers who could pass apft but couldn't hump the bush I never cared how fast you could run two miles as long as you could jump all day and be ready to fight when you get there

It should matter...All Leaders by definition "lead from the front" otherwise you'd just be a boss. I wouldn't allow a SGT on the ABCP program to counsel soldiers about what they need to do. It's an Army standard, can't enforce it if you can't meet it. Just my two cents.
