PV2 Linan, Congrats on your enlistment! I have been an 89b for 10 years, TSgt LaPointe hit it on the head! Being an ammunition specialist is an easy job we basically do shipping and recieving for ammunition.
The 2 best things I can tell you is 1st and most importantly KNOW the regulations!!!! The higher you get in the ranks the more your job becomes about keeping your commander out of jail and less about shipping and recieving. So know the regulations, the more you know now the better your career will be.
Secondly if you can go Airborne and go to a SOF unit! As an 89B one of the best things you can do for your career is get stationed with a special operations unit. you will learn more about your job in 1 year with a SOF unit then most 89b's learn in 10 years in any other army unit.
Congrats again, I hope you enjoy your upcoming training! take it for what it is and you will learn alot. If you need help or need advice let me know. Good luck!

Great input and advice, SSG (Join to see). Anything to do with money or explosives are go to jail deals. Attention to detail will keep you and the boss out of hand cuffs and jail! LOL

At a fundamental level, attention to detail, counting, and don’t assume. If you keep track of the types and counts properly, you’ll have a good time. You screw up magazine cards, 581s by over or under issuing, then the problems start.

Also, don’t be that one private when your NCO tells you to check a 40mm HE, and for some reason you have a brilliant idea to hit the primer with a hammer. We had one private during my first deployment who did that...
