No idea about how AIT is...but you should focus more on the training you're gonna get and not so much about your phone. Your Cadre will let you know about that when you get there

PV2 (Join to see) I actually just left from Sill as a 14E. Yes you can use your phone, not in the school house (they will make an exception if your wife is pregnant).

I’m not a 14T. But, don’t see why you wouldn’t have your phone. You probably just can’t take it to the schoolhouse or have it on you during the duty day. This means you’ll have it all night in the barracks and can take it with you on the weekends.

Even in the days of snail mail and paper cups tied together with string, situations such as yours could contact the Orderly Room, with the Co Clerk, 1SG, or CQ on duty, generally without assistance from anyone, but if necessary with the help of the Red Cross. The emergency would be shortly explained and addressed with a sense of expedience, resulting in you at least being informed of what's happening. If your phone is only limited to evening use, that avenue would get you in contact with your spouse faster than having the phone in your locker. As has already been said, let your Cadre/Chain of Command know the situation and get an emergency contact number. Pass that contact to your spouse, and let that ease your mind to focus on the training you are receiving. The cadre won't neglect to keep you informed or try to punish you for it, these are people too, each having some sort of empathy for someone having problems. You will seldom be led by sadistic psychopaths.

PV2 (Join to see) I think your priorities are way off. I understand you have a new born but in order to provide for your child, you need to pass AIT and also get your stress fractures under control.

My priorities are pretty much all the way in line I been providing for my family but if I can’t be there to see my child born I would at least like to see him or call to check on my wife due to us losing a child before. I needed advice on how to make my stress fractures under control I tough it through 10 weeks of basic training just wanted other options that I may not knew that others did to help

PV2 (Join to see) - seems like you have your priorities wrong. The last thing you should be concerned is your phone or other leisure items. You should be focused on training and your performance!

Look at my comment I only asked about my phone due to me having a newborn being born and me possibly not being there. My performance was top 5% in my company so I’ll continue to work hard!

PV2 (Join to see) - Good about your performance. Regarding your family issue, here’s my personal opinion: your gaining AIT unit will not isolate you from your family so there’s no need to worry from that aspect, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to stay in touch with your loved ones. That said, keep in mind that you’re not the first and will, definitely, not be the last in such situation.... Yours truly as an example! Perhaps, in today’s training environment you might be permitted to have a cellphone available, not like in prior days. Yes, I’ve been around a bit! But you need to set your deployed mentality quick, where those luxuries are that... luxuries. Otherwise you’re for a ride awaking as you move on with your military career. I’m not saying this on a negative sense, but the contrary. I want you to have a successful career, either as a one term or a lifer. Starting with the right mentality is imperative.

as a 13F A.I.T Instructor/Cadre- when you arrive to inprocess day 0 you will get a chance to call your love ones right away, before your Drill SGT collect all phones. When you reach a certain phase, the Drill SGT will issue phones for use only after the duty day.

Looking through the comments, I can see the drive to want to have your phone. Worrying about your loved ones can have a negative impact on your morale and studies.

In your AIT, you will receive your phone. It stays in your room while you are at the GIF (classroom).

Worrying about my wife having a healthy pregnancy & birth is negative? This is the only reason I asked about phones but after this is over the phone is no problem but I will do all I can to stay on task and achieve my goal.

PV2 (Join to see) No, negative to your morale. As in you will be filled with worry and stress if unable to stay informed.

I would change your priorities to graduating AIT. Every command and training class is very different. The only way to know about their rules is to show up like every other soldier and find out.

I only asked about their rules due to me having a newborn on the way SGT & recently having complications with a previous pregnancy, so my priorities are in line I know what I want to do and toughen through it so far and will continue.

PV2 (Join to see) The best option is to talk to your cadre and explain to them the situation.
