I was suppose to attend tech school this fall but they moved me to spring because of all the Covid19 events. I left the marine corps as an E3, and been in the guard since Nov 1 2018. Seeking information on what is tech school like?

Based on your profile, you will be at Sheppard as a TDY student. You'll likely be at the Sheppard Inn instead of a dorm with the pipeline students coming from Basic at Lackland. If so, you'll have to show up in time for the first class in the morning and leave after the last class. You'll be free to go to the club (if open) or off-base, just don't do something stupid. You'll also have to buy your own meals because you'll be on per diem.

Tech School is different from Basic Military Training (AFBMT) ( although I do not know what BMT is like in the Air Force, I’m a former Marine also.) It is more of a learning environment, kind of like a community college. In fact, you earn college credits while you are at Tech School and can continue to work on a degree while you progress in rank and expertise. Consequently, the learning environment is a combination of classroom studies and field training. Airmen also have more freedom at Tech School when it comes to personal liberties. New AF recruits get weekends off as they progress through Tech School and other special privileges.

Not really but compared to a pipeline student you will have it much easier. I held 4 different AFSCs so I went to several long term schools as prior service. Still strive to graduate at the top of your class but also have fun while away.
