How is the 68X AIT? Can I get to a Combat Operational Stress Control unit?

I'm about to graduate from 68X AIT soon, The curriculum is terrible because its 90% memorizing what the textbook says rather than learning how to do your job. A lot of people get recycled and re-classed because they thought it would be easy, or they just aren't good at that type of learning, but if you put in the work you'll make it. Pretty much all your actual learning is going to be on the job once you get to your unit, but we do get to see actual patients during training. The instructors are generally good and a lot of them have good stories to tell, but as far as what you'll be doing, a lot of us get assigned to hospitals, so you can't expect to get a cosc unit if that's the only thing you want to do. there's a lot of paperwork involved too, but if those things don't bother you and you enjoy helping people you'll really like this MOS. I'm going to be assigned to an inpatient psych ward which I think will be very rewarding.

Don't do it if you want to make a career. The school is very fast paced. But the thing is a lot of 68Xs don't get to see patients it's a very mismanaged and under utilized MOS. I reclassed to it from another MOS, but years later looking back in my opinion 11B is the best MOS in the Army. I would look at 15Q, 15W, or only 68W/ 68P if you really wanted to go medical. Remember when your looking at those later promotion you have a higher chance in those larger MOSs. For example yearly less than 9 SSGs get promoted to SFCs in 68X. Versus hundreds in the 11Series CMF. Set yourself up and focus on it. Go to the BH unit where your stationed and ask them questions face to face.
