How likely is it that I can transfer from Guard to IRR to Reserve?

I am currently on year 5 of a 6+2 PAARNG contract. Personal issues have come up (student loan debt, need for new employment) and I want to transfer to the Reserves to reclass to an 88L. The higher chance for advancement, large re-enlistment bonus, and training that is applicable to a civilian career are huge. How likely am I to be released to IRR, or should I provide better reasons?
Thank you

Have you started working with an ARCC in PA? If you need a POC let me know. There's ways to do this where the timeline can be reduced significantly. If you need assistance, call me and I can link you up with an ARCC in your hometown. [login to see] .

You are contractually obligated only to the first 6. You should request to be transfered to the IRR for the remainder of your MSO.. Then contact an ARCC in PA that can get you out if the IRR and into a Reserve unit. You will need both your NG discharge order puttting you in the IRR and your NGB22..

MSG explained it to a T. As a Recruiter I was just about to explain how this would be your best route.

Well it all depends on if your state will release you first you have to do a DD form 2147 personal action request form and also write a letter why you are wanting to go to the reserves then get with a reserve career counselor and have them find you a unit with a paragraph line number and a memorandum/ acceptance letter form the commander of a reserve unit and pass it all up through your chain company, battalion, brigade, and state.
It took me awhile to get released from the guard to the reserves because the state didn't want to release me. So I kept calling state and did a congressional inquiry as well.
I hope this helps let me know if you need anymore help.

SFC (Join to see) - yea I wish that happened with me but my hick up was I was getting out of the guard and not re-enlisting with the guard. I had 12 years of service and if I got out I would lose everything so I had to have the state cut my release orders before my contract was up so I could remaster to the reserves so I wouldn't have a break in service and I had to go through MEPS all over again.

SSG, just wanted to correct a typo as I am currently pushing through the process, for anyone else reading this thread.
The Personal Action Form is DA 4187, available here:

Ah my bad auto correct typo I meant 4187 sorry about that. Your state should have a state tracking system that lets you know where your packet is whether that be battalion or brigade and state.
