Typically 90 days before report date. But 30 days isn't uncommon. I think 60 days is a good amount of time, since there isn't much the sponsor can affect anyway.

In my recent PCS, my sponsor contacted me a full six months in advance. Wishful thinking, I know, but it can happen. Good luck on your sponsorship.

My S1 served as a proxy sponsor for about 6 months as well. As the time got closer I got an actual sponsor and then it changed again 1 wk prior to me signing in. It will vary place to place.

My last two PCS's I never received any sponsor information. Its a good thing I had been to those bases before and know that the base hadn't moved or the units

The Air Force is better at giving you a sponsor then the Navy. The Navy NEVER followed through on a sponsor. I showed up in Japan and had no idea what was after landing at Narita. I was used to it so I just followed my instinct and looked for other American military and got on a bus to the military bases.

I was notified of my sponsor within a day or two.
