I have a question and I hope someone can help me out. So I have been out since 10/17 but thinking of going into the reserves. I was an MP but now want to INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (25B). I currently work for the BOP but looking for a change in career and I really like computers and have been going to school for IT for about a year now. How long and were would my AIT be if I decided to reenlist for 25B? Also what units are around me in Austin, TX? I can’t find any units around me. Thanks again for yall’s time.

If you're sent to the active duty location it's 18 or 19 weeks - just under the PCS length of 20 weeks. I don't know if 25B is one of the jobs that have a Reserves training location.
The down side to the Reserves is that you won't immediately go to training and it could be a year or two before you go. The upside is that you can usually work with your unit to send you at time that works best for you.

There are multiple Guard and Reserve sites that Train 25B. Camp Williams, UT and Tobyhanna, PA are the 2 biggest accelerated school houses. The course is 8 weeks there

It is around 20 weeks, at wonderful Ft. Gordon, GA. (Augusta) As for units, 25B would be used in Signal companies and at Battalion and higher 6 shops. In a Signal Company, you will be doing nothing but field networks. If you are in an S6 shop, you will do a lot of garrison network and systems work and would need to have civilian certifications to be an administrator.
