How long before reclass training should I expect a welcome letter, packing list, etc..?

I am reclassing to 74D. I will be attending CBRN school in less than 45 days, but have yet to receive anything besides an ATRRS reservation. I tried reaching out to the school house for guidance, but haven't heard anything back yet. My biggest concern is that I am trying to take leave prior to reporting and I'm stuck at the moment since I don't have the appropriate information to complete my travel voucher. My DTS manager says they can't do anything without the LOA that will come from the school house.

You won't get one. Your MOS AIT is an entry level MOS so you take the things you would bring from Basic.
You aren't necessarily authorized to take leave because you're going TDY. You can take leave after before your report date. There's no LOA that will come from the school house. You will come on assignment 120 days prior to your class date. Your class information will be in your orders. You should not be arranging travel through DTS. You are TDY enroute and will require a manual DD1610 for your TDY Authorization

Thanks. Yes I already have my orders for assignment. I go tdy then return to JBLM to clear prior to PCS. Wouldve been a lot easier to do TDY enroute, but my wife didn’t want to pull the kids out of school. Thanks for the response. That helps.

SSG (Join to see) you are TDY enroute, you are NOT TDY and return. TDY Enroute literally means TDY taken while enroute to your next PCS. Unless your unit funded your travel ahead of time (it didn't) and it was requested and approved at the time of the MOS reclass request (it wasn't) you are TDY enroute. All MOS retraining of less than 20 weeks is TDY enroute. You are TDY Enroute with return to home station authorized to clear.
If you don't get the DD1610 needed for your school you can be kicked out at the start. If you don't get kicked out, finance will refuse to process your TDY and you will he responsible for all the expenses incurred. It can take months to get fixed, and if you don't, it will damage your credit and hurt you financially when the funds for your GTC purchases are recouped

This is off tangent, but that training can be invaluable in the military and civilian positions in disaster preparedness and response.

I was the HazMat instructor there. This is the worst phase of the CBRN in Indy school whether it is AIT, ALC, or SLC. just take copious notes and study your butt off. Know the placards and memorize all classes of material. If you give me your email I may be able to help you further
