For those that have used their GI Bill: what does the process look like after the school certified? I have applied for benefits, received my statement from the VA, and submitted my DD-214 and statement to the school, who said they certified my enrollment with the VA. At what point should I be concerned that something is amiss?

For Post 9/11? I don't know. I know back in the day before 9/11 GI Bill, it took forever for me to get payments rolling in. I was always behind.

I was in from 99-03, so I used both the pre and post 9/11 GI Bills. For the pre-9/11, it took about a month for the money to start rolling in after all the paperwork was done. I had 100% scholarships and grants, so the money just showed up in my bank account every month after I did the monthly certification online. When I used my post-9/11 benefits for an electrical apprenticeship, I was nearly done with the entire first year of school by the time I saw any benefits roll in.

The VA normally pays the school directly and then you'll get the residual + any BAH or allowance based on full time or part time status in school living off campus, you'll be able to check your payments on va.gov
