How long does it take for a conditional release form to be approved/disapproved and who has the final authority to do so?

I did 5 years as active duty Navy, currently an active reservist. I am trying to go active duty Marines and was wondering if anyone here has ever done this before?

I did reserve Army to active Army. Took 5 and a half months to get it back. The final approving authority is your commanding general (first general in your chain)

I had to have a conditional release from the reserves to take a position in the DIMA program. It is signed by the first general officer in the chain so it can be a while. Mine was 6 months.

I have done two releases but never from Reserve to Active Duty. Mine all went quick because it was done at the local level. I am not sure who has release authorization going from Reserve back to Active Duty. But to help the situation along, I would be on the phone constantly with whoever is approving it. Don’t wait for someone else to do their job. No one cares as much about your career as you do.
