I received my offer letter 2.5 weeks ago for the Hip Pocket scholarship, at which point I submitted the 4187/request for discharge through my S1, and posted my signed response to the offer letter on the Green to Gold portal. Cadet Command validated the document, and that was it. I also submitted the documents enclosed in my commander’s letter to my school’s PMS.

Should I be concerned that I have not been notified of being placed on assignment yet? If so, who is the proper person to reach out to?

Any advice is appreciated. I’m supposed to move to Hawaii in 4 weeks (discharge date to be July 15), so I’m getting a little nervous.

You realize that if you're being discharged, there is no assignment? You would only be placed on assignment if you were staying in the Army like the Active Duty Option. You're being separated to pursue college, you can't be on assignment after your ETS. You need to be preparing to transition to being a civilian, setting up your travel, looking for a place to live etc

The only orders you will receive are discharge orders. As for travel I am pretty sure that is your responsibility. At best the Army will cover you up to home of record when you last enlisted. SFC Boyd covered the bases. Good luck in your future.

I am doing HIP Pocket scholarship this fall as well and I'd say make sure you read and fully understand AR 635-200 16-2. For some reason the HIP pocket scholarship isn't common so my unit hasn't known what to do and I've had to know the regs. to be the driving force in my separation. You have to go to your transportation center and turn in your separation packet to them. Go to them and ask what documents are required to start your separation packet. You will need/receive orders to leave because that is how you out-process your installation and your transportation will be paid for my the military but you should contact your Rotc POC if you have more questions. POCs can be found in the ADO guide at the very end depending on where you are stationed.

Thank you! My unit is the same way. I submitted my request for discharge 4187 and I’m still waiting on orders. How long did it take for you to receive yours? And in what manner did you receive them? Was it through your company commander?

I am waiting on orders because I just got my 4187 back as well and your commander has nothing to do with the separation. You get them through your transportation center after submitting your separation packet to them. The people that process transitions should have answers for you. You can be proactive while you wait for orders. Hopefully you have done SLF TAP and you can start to turn in your CIF gear to make clearing faster because you'll be leaving soon. You can get a memo signed by your commander for CIF early turn in.
For your separation packet you'll need (This is from my transition center):
-SRB -College acceptance letter -4187
-HQ notification of award -PMS letter of acceptance
-Separation Authority Memo (I didn't know about this memo but mine asked for it idk about yours)
