I have 15 days until my terminal leave begins. I was supposed to turn in my signed DA31 last thursday in order to pick up my clearing packet this morning, but due to my unit lying to me about our BC tracking needing to sign it, I am still completely in the dark on the status of the signature. I am utilizing the open door policy today to get the signature from him in person, so with any luck I will be able to turn in a signed DA31 to the clearing office at the copeland center. What I want to know is, if anybody has cleared hood, how long did it take from turning in your DA31 to actualy recieve your packet? I have already attended the clearing brief.

About 5 days if I recall, the one hang up for most is CIF, if you don’t have it I’d find it because the statement of charges will slow you down. Clean it once, twice and then clean it again and don’t argue with the CIF folks, they hold your leaving in their hands.....good luck.

My nephew just went through this in Hawaii to Ft. Hood, use your chain of Command and inform the 1st Sergeant then the CSM. Keep them informed it's called CYA.

3-5 days is common, and only that long because the needed person that clears at one station will be in a meeting one day, come back in a few hours and the computer needed at another station will be down for a few hours another, come back this after noon, and that station has someone on sic leave come back tomorrow.

READ the clearing papers they have specific things YOU need to have, done, will need to do, or to do in order.. Get lazy on those and the job of clearing gets frustrating quickly.
