I did it in 2007 and it was a matter of weeks. Some take longer, some are quick. It all depends on the separation code and/or circumstances.

SSG (Join to see) hit it on the head. Sometimes there are mandatory waiting periods, sometimes it is based on the Army demands. It could take months, even up to a couple years.

Jon Ragland I have been working on mine for 18 years. I've gone through three recruiters - they all up and disappeared at the first sign of difficulty. The recruiter I have now is a bulldog, and my final processing paperwork is sitting on the CMOs desk at MEPS.
Documentation is key. Anything and everything that has to do w/ what your discharge was for, and that it is no longer an issue, or would not prevent service is a MUST. Letters of Recommendation don't hurt, either; the heavier the sleeves/shoulders, the better.

I had to get a medical waiver, then an age waiver and now am waiting on the RE-3 waiver. I started the process March 2021. Medical waiver was granted in August 2021, Age waiver in February 2022 and the RE-3 waiver was submitted just this past week (March 2022). The code was due to not meeting medical requirements back in 2009. Since the medical condition has been waived, the RE code is pretty much moot. Hopefully, the waiver will be granted soon. Then I have to fill out the commission packet. Should that be granted, I will be allowed to enter JAG.

I'm in the process of getting a wavier for RE-3. I was told it depends on the reason you got the RE-3 but with mine, my recruiter said it shouldn't be a problem and should only take a couple weeks to a month to get a response back after all my paperwork gets submitted including a memo and a recommendation from my recruiters First Sergeant. Also, I was told if I'm able and willing to leave ASAP it helps push the process a little faster along. Hope this helps and Good Luck!
