I've just completed BOLC back in August and had my state push through my NGB 78 form to get the FED-REC process started as quick as possible. How long does it typically take for your packet to get picked up?
I've attached a snip it from the G1 site that shows my packet status.
Can anyone shed more light on this? I was told this process is longer now then it used to be for 2LT to 1LT promos..

I can confirm. At least three per day, morning, noon and evening. Getting mine in 18 months, promoting late Nov.

2LT (Join to see) - I bet if you locked up at attention and screamed everything you said to them you would have made it in 14 months!

Promotion to 1LT is pretty much automatic. It will take 24 months but it is waiverable to 18. I got mine in 18 months. Also, this is the only rank were they can back date your date of rank. When you get your FEDREC it will be for the day you first became eligible. I was promoted in April but my date of rank on my official orders were for Feb. So I got that back pay. After that it is much more difficult.

Mcquaid, some states take longer than others. I finished BOLC last year and got my state promotion orders in March (still a month after our promo date). My packet is still sitting at JAG according to the FEDREC Tracker. 7 months in since I received my promotion and I'm still waiting. Haha. Best of luck brother! Just gotta wait it out.

That really is insane! All our AD counter parts from OCS will be pinning on CPT by the time I get promoted haha

You're telling me.... even our Reserve buddies have pinned. Just another great day in the guard! Haha

Fedrec from 1LT to CPT took 126 days this scroll... Your mileage may vary

Mine was back dated almost two years. I got 5 months backpay. Don't assume smart people are handling your packet. Or that it's not being used as a coaster somewhere. Be sinical and bug everyone who has hands on it.

Wow. The things I never knew about the Guard and Reserves & the newest "battle on paper". Good luck LT ! All my experience was on Active duty during Viet Nam/Cold War, where exactly one year was the date of promotion (generally). Of course both grades of LTs were "dropping like flies" in 'Nam, so, perhaps we were "moved along" for the betterment of the service. However, I personally know several young 2LTs (then) that screwed up badly enough to have received a nice jumbo Article 32 and were held back an additional year and another an additional 18 months. A third was forced to stay active until he had repaid all the damage the men under his command had done at his direction and approval. I'm sure you won't have THOSE kinds of issues. Anyway, best wishes and patience. P.S. I "passed" on several key things during my post Active duty time to become a permanent CPT or above, and regret that to this day.

I was told that it takes 24 months to make 1LT in the Reserves or National Guard, although yes it can be granted in 18. I had a peer recently get promoted in 18 while in the reserves when we were deployed together this year. Just make sure you have BOLC done and talk to HRC.

Mine took about 6 months from packet upload to getting my orders. But you get back pay for that time. It wasn't too bad. The processing time gets slower and slower as you move up in rank though. I'm in WVARNG, date of rank October 2015, orders posted March 2016.

Its crazy that the process takes so much longer for NG soldiers...or at least that's been my experience thus far. I can't figure out why it takes so long!

With active duty and reserves, there's no fed rec required. But with the guard, since you take your oath to the state, the state does your promotions. Then, for them to be valid in the army, they are submitted for federal approval.
The guard has other perks though, so I'll tolerate that drawback!

Just like everything Guard side, it depends on your state. I commissioned in May and am still trying to get dates for BOLC. Good thing is that I already have my Federal Recognition.

You will need a FED-REC for every promotion you receive in the Guard from this point going forward....I had a FED-REC board for my commission initially as well.
