Active Duty: How many months must you have remaining before ETS in order to be pinned E-5? I’ve skimmed through the AR but haven’t found an answer.. a link would be awesome if possible. Thanks in advanced!

There’s no time frame from what I’ve seen. I’ve personally worked with an individual who pinned E5 and ETSed a month later

You cannot attend NCOES if you have less than 6 months time remaining. If you have been to the promotion board and NCOES, you make rank regardless as long as you have the points to do so, but that comes down from HRC. If they have NCOES and still need to attend the board, it’s up to their chain of command if they want to send them.

Don't know if there are any stipulations now, but in 1971 I was promoted to E5 - Sgt after 14 months in the Army. Got my papers at 18 months with 4 months back pay. EETA at 20 months. Joined the reserves a couple years later At same rank.
