Cost -10% usually. Though for older stuff it may be depreciated more. Like MAJ Ken Landgren said, ask your supply NCO.

Well, it’s not CIF that charges you, CIF will simply refuse to clear you. Your Supply Sergeant will write up a statement of charges for the item you have lost. You then bring the completed statement of charges to the CIF lead and they will take it off your record.
Statements of charges usually involve depreciation, so this should be a cheaper option than buying the missing item just to turn in, no matter how much it is.
Realistically: if you lose an item, or if it is rendered unserviceable, your supply sergeant can run a FLIPL, and the item can be removed from your record with no cost to you if it is determined that you are not at fault. Typically you do this after the training exercise where it was lost/broken, so when you are doing this when you are trying to clear, it’s pretty much guaranteed you’re going to pay for it.

I just had to clear CIF on 11 MAY and I paid them with a money order, $29.85 for the item he is asking about.

I just cleared CIF at Lewis and the CIF customer service just gave me a document to sign for the $29 I owed. I know after a certain price point you have to do additional paperwork for the statement of charges.
