My IOTV is WAY too big. Literally fell off my shoulders during a movement. I decided that the equipment was unsafe and I’m going to CIF to see if I can swap it out. How much grief am I going to get?

You shouldn't get any grief considering you were given equipment that was too big. But, it is CIF and it is manned by hate filled civilians and anger filled retirees.....

SPC (Join to see) check your posts CIF policy. Some posts have a walk in Day. Others want appointments through unit supply sergeants. Ensure it is clean and ready for turn in..."I just drew it" may make common sense but not CIF funhouse mirror logic. Should be simple as long as it is clean, serviceable, and complete.

Absolutely what LTC Mackay said each CIF is different so know how to turn it in and clean it. But you are absolutely right in turning the IOTV in. It is unsafe gear that will not properly keep you safe in the job it is suppose to do. Last year at Fort bliss I think every week I would take someone back to CIF to exchange an IOTV because they were to big.

As long as it's clean and serviceable you shouldn't catch too much flak.
