The unit I'm with, in the National Guard, have been doing monthly NCOER's. I think this is excessive. Plus it uses up a lot of time that can be used on other things. Can someone direct me/show me a DAPAM if monthly NCOERs are excessive? Thank you!

NCOERs are annual unless required for a change of rater, relief for cause or extended annual. NCOs will receive a counseling quarterly compared to junior enlisted which is monthly.

LTC Jason Mackay Afternoon Sir, I spoke to my PLT SGT and he started to laugh. They are just delinquent in their NCOERs. At least I did some "light" reading.

SSG(P) (Join to see) - That's some serious backlog to have to do them every month. Serious fail on on levels from the Rated NCO to the Senior Rater

LTC Jason Mackay - Sir, you are correct. EES will not allow that to happen to create an NCOER every month for the same NCO. And, even if it did....HQDA would kick those back so fast it would feel like a hurricane.

AR 623-3 covers Evaluations
Unless the Guard runs things differently. NCOERs are an annual thing, unless another circumstance comes up - change of rater, relief, etc...
Counselings are quarterly for NCOs.
I had a CSM who had us counsel NCOs monthly, on a 4856. Very excessive, but we couldn't fight it.

SSG(P) (Join to see) Do you mean monthly counselings as CW2 (Join to see) pointed out. As NCOERs are an annual thing. I do counselings quarterly for my troops.

Monthly counseling is understandable. But no I'm talking about NCOER's. I just went through the AR and found my answer. A mandatory NCOER It's required if the SM completes more than 11 days for AT, transferring units, At least one month being off a profile, If they haven't received one in over 120 days.

As stated NCOERs are annual unless a change of rater is required, now there is quarterly counseling.

I am curious why you, at your rank, are concerned about the unit's NCOER issues. It sounds to me like the unit has become extremely delinquent in it's NCOER matrix and steps are being taken to correct the issue and get the overdues fixed. I know the CG in my command has solved the problem by directing the BN and BDE commanders to issue Letters of Concern for 30 days and will issue GOMAR to the rating chain if it gets to 60 days. Guess what...we are all caught up (at least we were before COVID-19 stop movement).

MSG, We were originally 1498th TC. That unit got deactivated. We are now 1836 TC DET 1. It was just alot of bad habits from the past where we got to this issue. I am becoming part of the full-time staff of the 756th TC POL as the Training NCO, but also assisting 1836. I just started to think, how would my Commander want things to be done or where can I help. I haven't been in the Guard a long time or even in the military that long, since September 2017 . I'm still learning and I may get things wrong hence I was totally wrong with thinking they were doing NCOERs every month haha. The LT saw an issue where the soldiers are not using the support form as they should be. That's one of the reason why they get so far behind in their NCOERs.
