How should a situation in the MCX about wearing a cover in the building be handled properly?

NEITHER MYSELF OR MY WIFE ARE IN THE HABIT OF TELLING A LIE OR MAKING UP A STORY - IT HAPPENED! FOCUS ON THE QUESTION - NOT WETHER YOU BELIEVE THE INCIDENT HAPPENED OR NOT!

RP Members was this handled properly by the Junior Officer, SgtMaj, or the mother? What would you have done?

THIS WAS A REAL SITUATION THAT TOOK PLACE YESTERDAY 12/30/2015

CORRECTION: I've receive collaboration from another lady who also had firsthand knowledge of this incident in the MCX - "The "youth" was not an AD USMC, but part of a group of Young Marines. Her description of this group is that it is one for troubled youth to attempt to instill discipline and maybe bring them into the fold."

I apologize to all of those individuals that I stood firm on with, that it was young Marine Private (based on all the information I received), but the discussion, question, and feedback on how the situation was handled by the Junior Officer, Sgt Mgr, and Mother have been outstanding - that I don't apologize for - thanks

If anything, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and my wife called me at home immediately following the incident - she knew I would enjoy hearing about it. I just said, "that SgtMaj owns that young Marine!"

RP Members this one comes from the wife that works at Camp Pendleton, CA Marine Base in the MCX.

A young "Youth" Marine was in the check-out line with his mother and "CORRECTION" (put his cover on inside!) He was approached by a AD Marine (Junior Officer) and asked to remove the cover. Immediately the young "Youth" Marine took up the defensive and asked the junior officer "who the F*** are you?" The Junior Officer then got into the young "Youth" Marine's face and told him to have some respect and remove the cover - it escalated into a shouting match in the check-out line in the MCX. Coming from the back of the store there was a loud roar from a Sergeant Major in the Marines (built like a tank according to my wife). He bellowed, "both of you shut your mouth there are families in here!" The MCX went silent and several employees and Marines hit the deck (no kidding). The SgtMaj came to the front and grabbed the young "Youth" Marine the by collar escorting him and the Junior Officer out of the MCX with the Young "Youth" Marine's mother yelling, "don't touch my boy!"

OK I get the jrnco and I get the Sgt MAJ. I don't get the young Marine. Why would you put up a fight when you are totally in the wrong? I believe he would have been just fine if he removed his head gear and apologized. It is bad when Forest Gump has more sense. Now the jrnco should not have let the situation escalate inside. He could have left and waited for him outside, where his mommy could watch her precious gem get smoked till he puked.

The Sergeants Major did the right thing. The young marine should be taken to the motor pool for the next 4 Saturdays and Sundays to move a 5 ton dump truck load of dirt from one end to the other with a wheel barrow. The young officer should have to supervise the young mating during the detail. Hell, bring mom along so she can see there's no mama boys in the Corps.

I don't ever care if the story is true, though I do believe you, it is a great story! Corrections in public should be handled as quietly and as professionally as possible, but no superior should ever simply walk away. It weakens the Corps.

If he is lucky he will get some extra duty. Most likely he will be charged with conduct unbecoming a Marine, Disrespect towards a commissioned officer and whole other host of charges. Let's just say he is up shits creek without a paddle.

....Ask the Marine to uncover, plain and simple...hollowing and belittling him don't help, far too many DIs lose the recruit
when they hollow yell and scream, especially when it's not necessary...wearing a cover in a building is not like why do you have a dirty weapon, or you learn the chain of command....

That Marine should get more than EPD. Obviously, this marine was not a recruit, so he should've known better, point blank. Hell, even recruits know that. As for the mother, until she have been through the fire, she would not understand, not even the slightest bit. Oohrah SGTMAJ!

This got out of hand from the get go. First thing anyone is supposed to do, is calmly walk up to the Marine. Identify verbally, as well as present your military ID to the Marine. Now this sounds stupid, but it starts the acknowledging of rank. After which you turn correct the issue. Now if this young Marine has a total brain fart and decides to not acknowledge the lawful order. It is now a punishable offense under the UCMJ. Which can then be handled that way. GAME OVER. Seen to many times someone wants to show their dick. And it just doesn't work.

I've seen similar at the gas pumps on post. Idiot didn't recognize the post CSM in civilian clothes when asked to turn down music. Needless to say he and his whole chain of command had a date at post headquarters early the next morning.
