How should I decide between Psyops or Civil Affairs? What has your first-hand experience been like in either?

I’m trying to decide between the two. Can anyone give me some firsthand experience on what their time was like in either? Thank you

Way too simplified to be accurate (but still somewhat accurate) version:
Civil Affairs : Ask the locals what they think
PSYOPs: Tell the locals what they think
Both have a very definitive, and very needed mission. Both have great things and bad things. Both serve the mission through their interaction with the population. And both lean heavily on each other.

Amor e simpler breakdown could not be made lol. But putting in perspective I guess it’s all a matter of which do I wanna be a part of based off those two ideas

Talk to your local PSYOP or CA Recruiter. Visit goarmysof.com to find your nearest station

Talk to the recruiters at the SORB. If you want to wait about a month, I'll arrive at Bliss as your new EWO and I can give you the lowdown on CA.

If want to become the subject matter expert on the culture of a giving population then join PSYOP. PSYOP does some civil affairs but CA only does civil affairs. PSYOP in my opinion is harder.

I did see the qualifications for Psyops and it is harder. But do you mean as in harder as a job or to get in? Either way, being part of a small team is my end goal. Big army is no longer for me

SGT (Join to see) - The qualifications are the same. 70 APFT, same GT, same physical, both 10 days long Selection.
There is a major difference between Active and Reserve CA/PO.
CA conducts influence through governance, PO conducts influence through messaging. That's the difference.
The 3 SOF tribes (SF/CA/PO) are about irreqular and special warfare - basically influencing a population to change in some aspect. The method of conducting said influence is the difference between the 3. Neither is "better" than the others, they're all "tier 3" SOF, all equal under the 1st Special Forces Command.
The one for you is the one you'll be best at - mil2mil training, information and messaging, governance and population control.
Typically SF is the most tactical, PO in the middle, and CA the least. But in terms of the size of effects CA is the highest, PO in the middle, and SF the smallest.
If you want to shoot a lot - SF, if you want to change the world - CA.

PSYOP does not do Civil Affairs. It just may look that way because both jobs are centered around working with the civilians and government officials of the target area.
