So I was at my moms house cleaning out her basement. In a box I found my dad's WWII crackerjack uniform. It needs to be cleaned but I'm leery about sending it to a cleaners to have it done. Does anyone have any contacts or suggestions on getting it cleaned? Its in pretty good shape for being 74 years old. My goal is to get it mounted in a large shadow box with his awards.

A reputable dry cleaner might be able to do it. Ask first.

Brian, I highly admire you; for what you are attempting to do for your grandfather's sake.

Find a pro, perhaps even the companies that preserve wedding dresses.

How should I preserve a 74 year old navy "Crackerjack" uniform?

If you can find a military museum or even a local museum that displays any type of clothing, try to contact someone inside that may be able to provide advice on the matter.

I can tell you generally that air is typically the enemy and your plan to mount it is a good idea. Be careful with a professional cleaner and do your research
