I’m prior service interested in commissioning for fixed wing. It seems like an unclear process for RLOs.

It is next to impossible to get into the FWQC unless you are a CW3-5. There are only a select number of installations that support the fixed wing mission set so the opportunities a slim. Also, just because you go to OCS and want to be a 15A does not guarantee you get to be a 15A.

Are any of the current existing commissioned officers who fly FW then just relics from a period of different policy? There is most certainly a non-zero number of commissioned fixed wing pilots on the reserve side.
If it is true that CWOs are the only ones eligible to attend FWQC, how do we account for the exceptions?
