Ladies and gentlemen. Just as the topic states, I am looking for guidance in regards to shifting my career towards aviation. As of right now I am a SPC (P) with 2 years 4 months TIS and am in excellent standing with my command group to a point that they will back my decision. If there are any folks out there that can give me a proper outline and tips, it would be greatly appriciated. Thank you.

The first step is getting the packet downloaded from the USAREC website. Start the process, there are sample packets in the site that show you how to fill out the packet step by step. Study for the SIFT, you can only take it twice so make sure you are ready. Once you pass you are stuck with whatever passing score you get, so do not take it until you are ready. Next step schedule and take a class 1 flight physical to ensure you are medically qualified. While doing all this complete the packet. When I say complete it I mean have everything done to include letters of recommendation from your company and battalion commanders. Then and only then go to your local airfield and talk to Warrant Officers within the flight companies. Find a CW3 or above that is willing to interview you and write your letter of recommendation. If you have any other questions shoot me a message and I will answer what I can. I am willing to even have a phone conversation to answer any and all questions you have. Just let me know how I can help.

Google Warrant Officer Recruiting and then navigate the site. It has everything you need to know about packet requirements by Warrant MOS. Next, seek out an Aviation Warrant near you or on Rally Point.

You already have some advice that you should follow.

I assume that because of your MOS, you hold at least secret clearance. If not, you need to go see your unit security manager Monday and initiate the paperwork. APFT scores can make a difference in competitive selections. I think you will have time to get in the fall APFT score with your packet. So, start spending the rest of summer training up to get the best score you possibly can.

Start shaking the bushes for a Warrant Officer that can mentor you. You will likely need a LOR from one. Usually the same branch of you are staying in it, but I think any for wing warrants. The website will tell you.

Good luck.
