Hi all, Does anyone have a good way to improve JBC connectivity, especially dealing with the GPS units? Every time a cloud is in the sky my vehicles are losing their connectivity. Am I looking at a hardware issue or a calibration issue? I know the wire with the GPS is a pain but surely a 60% connection can't be standard.

Thanks for all the help and info.

Check the wiring between the device and the antenna. Cracked shielding can attenuate the signal. Lower signal power can lead to LOS. Used to see alot of this on the old RF cables. Things always need to be checked to ensure they are working properly. Used t OP have most Radio RF cables replaced when returning from the field. By doing this in one FA BN in germany. When I got there the could barely talk 5 miles. After setting up a plan to do commo recovery from deployment of FTX, we started talking up to 90 miles. Even did a check at my last FTX with the BN actually had a 135 mile reach with just the vehicle antenna in the field in germany with hills and valleys and alot of vegetation and raining. Of course this was back in 1989. But cracked shielding is something that happens on any heavy used RF cables to connect the antenna with the communications device.

Thanks, one of the ideas I had was to replace the GPS cables or the GPS themselves. It's finding the time to get all the work done. Am in the USAR and when am on base I only have maybe two days to get things done after I get unit training taken care of. thanks for the help.

Check the system grounding. The installers often fail to scrape the paint at the ground connection.

Also, the location of your GPS hockey puck. It should be at least as high as the top of the tranceiver.
