Find a good balance. Volunteer for meaningful and impactful option that you value. Be present and active in your unit. Have a diverse and well rounded package and show a continuous improvement as well as consistent work ethic. The primary thing is to do what you would normally do and hold yourself and those around you to a high standard of you excell and help those around you excell a good reputation does wonders.

Just be the best airman that you can. And it will happen like it did for me. And also try to lead lower rank airman. I mean by that is take leadership roles and help out the new people. That really goes a long way

Go above and beyond what your peers do, ask your supervisor to help accomplish goals, and don’t be a blue falcon. Also keep in mind btz is never a guarantee, so don’t feel entitled to it.

Do very well in tech school, get on Dean's list at least, score high in your CDCs at your first duty station. I guess, volunteer, i didn't. Hit the ground running in the work place when you get to your first base.

Trust me, try to shine. Don’t fly under the radar. PT scores help too. Take any courses that pertain to your MOS and that will help you in a leadership role. Not sure if they still have NCO prep school these days, or Professional Military education classes. Trust me, the people you hang with can and will make or break you. Good luck

Show actual leadership. Look btz is important but dont be a blue falcon. Its not about neccessarily being better but showing you are good to lead. Orginize events, help airmen around you excell as well. At the end of the day the airmen you help reflect good on you. My EPR was kind of mediocre a few convoy ops here and there and other basic SF shit but at the end it was my ability to articulate and being known as good at my job and helping train and elevate those around me that helped me get it.

In this day, kiss as much ass as possible. That is all that matters now. The more stripes they have the better. Even more so if they have brass. Job performance is not treasured like it used to be.
