You need to talk to your Supervisor about what you need to do. Organize volunteer opportunities for your flight, complete early and score in the 90s on your EOC help, don't get any paperwork, watch who you hang out with. Be that guy, their go to. Score in the 90's on your PT test. If you win quarterly awards that will help.

My honest opinion, just be that guy that everyone pretty much knows about. Sign up for the FAC and be a people person. Get involved with the squadron. I did pretty much everything what everyone mentioned about going up for BTZ. I brought in my leadership and work habits from the civilian side nothing happened. I signed up for base honor guard, which I loved doing. Just good luck to you and don’t let it ruin you if you don’t get it. I know it ruined me.

Just gotta be “the guy”. You’re a maintainer like I am. If you’re the guy they can count on to work hard and do good work fixing jets, you’ll have a leg up on all the other guys who are allergic to work. Also, be a “well-rounded” Airman. Knock out some CLEPs, do well on your CDC’s, and do some good volunteering.

First off I think they should get rid of it.... i my option it take 5 to 7 to make a good ssgt.. giving KIDS early promotion ... turns out leaders from experienced cambat guys to guys like you who get so caught up in btz you forget to deploy... stripes don't make the man the man makes the stripes.

Volounteer, school, CDC’s, and certifications. Having schooling shows your dedication to self improvement. Especially if as an AB you are seeking your CCAF, I’m not sure if your leadership would allow you to be in school until your CDC’s are done though. Also I was an AB, and when my time came for below the zone promotion there where few others in the same evaluations as me. I would suggest to start now.

Easy, dont make BTZ a priority. Remember, you're starting from the bottom no matter how much you may not like it. Take any LAWFUL order from those appointed over you, and do it. You're an A1C, that is your job. To obey lawful orders from those appointed over you. If they tell you to mop a floor, mop that damn floor better than anyone else has ever mopped it before. You dont have to go out and volunteer every weekend, you dont have to be your Flt Chief's best friend, you dont have to have a CCAF as an A1C; trust me. Just do your job and be better than you were yesterday. Learn the whole Airman concept and never lose motivation- I guarantee you, you will be just fine.
