The recruiting struggles continue across all branches. What is causing it and how should it be addressed?

1. Get rid of the blended retirement, this is not an American Corporation. Reinstate the 20yrs for 50% retirement pension and if soldiers want to contribute to TSP, well that is just great!
2. Get rid of all the woke policies and reinstate old-school drill instructors and make Basic Training what it once was, a place where we make soldiers, not summer camp.
3. Understand that the military is the most prejudiced organization in the entire USA, an individual cannot join unless he/she has an HS Diploma or GED equivalent, No FAT people, No out of shape people, and No Handicapped People. Enforce the standards, DO NOT COMPROMISE THE STANDARD EVER!!!
4. Individuals want to belong to something bigger, with standards that are enforced, they want to do their jobs and train, be ready and relevant, in order to do that, BASIC Training needs to be a culture shock, a place where we make soldiers, not individuals and AIT soldiers need to be treated as soldiers not as recruits.
5. Leadership starts as an E2 and it is develop from there. The Marines have a great formula, but the Army's excuse is that we are so much bigger and larger than the Marines so it is harder, I call BS on this pathetic excuse. Enact reforms that make it harder to be a soldier and you will see how the quality of soldiers improves.
6. The Army's mission is the fight and win America's war, where ever they may be. In order to accomplish that mission we must have a trained, relevant and ready force that is both mentally and physically resilient; in order to do that we must get away from WOKE culture and embrace the warrior's ethos and creed.

The zillennial generation seems hyper focused on the cost of education and believes that education isn't as affordable or unattainable as it once was. I would believe that it would behoove military AD campaigns to focus on the GI Bill as a means for people to pursue education while serving, Also I think the government can assist by giving tax breaks or benefits to employers who hire veterans, Increase veteran visibility in the workplace, increase job placement for veterans after contracts expire, really hammer home how useful the military is when it comes to future job prospects.

Unemployed individuals have better benefits to employers (corporate) than Veterans, they have more incentives for hiring, unless its a government job

Funny how when I was in (2013-2015) all you heard leadership say was the Army was downsizing and people were getting booted left and right. Funny how that came back to bite them in the ass(KARMA)!

I would reevaluate the testing, my son was an excellent Corman and exceptional 4.0 sailor, with great evals, but a poor test taker. He was an E4 with 10 years and was forced out when he wanted to stay in while other shit bags that were crappy at their job stayed in and advanced because they test well. Big Navyi is forcing good people out just because they can’t test well and the quotas are ridiculous! They were horrible as a PH when I was active in the late 80s early 90s and they’re not any better now, it’s not changed for many rates while other rates make E-4 out of A school. Advancement needs to be more individual based. Ask those guys you just forced out if they want to come back in with advancement to the next rank automatic after 1 yr. Just this old salty dog’s 2¢!

Stop with the social experimentation and start training fighters again! The military is not a place for social experiments! When you recruit people that want a free sex change and social justice you get weak kneed social justice warriors, not fighting men and women!! And reinstate the draft!

Here's an idea...how about stop the social experimentation and woke BS. The military has one purpose. Destroy our enemies. Concentrate on bringing in combat oriented warriors and leave the flake social justice warriors in San Francisco where they belong.

Stop promoting woke nonsense, encourage parents to raise good humans and stop fighting pointless wars to line the pockets of politicians. Promote the military for what it’s actually for, defense of our nation and our interests abroad.

That’s probably a good place to start.

Like so many countries that I have been to who really have no recruitment problems --- a mandatory 2 year year enlistment for everyone who graduates from high school. It may stop some of this "entitlement feeling" that many have and it would bring a state of maturity that many need.

Great question! My question is, would the DoD listen, or simply continue down the road to ruin? WOKENESS and "diversity" are the Achilles heel of a force that should be focused on LETHALITY on the BATTLEFIELD, not pronouns, elective surgeries and pre-existing conditions, skin color, etc. The enemy doesn't care about any of that, and neither should we. Whatever happened to, "Everyone in the Army is GREEN"? The military is NOT for everyone, and the DoD needs to understand that. Being an equal opportunity employer needs to also keep in mind the MISSION of the military, and that EVERYONE who joins needs to pass the MINIMUM requirements for combat. Everyone who joins needs to be able to FIGHT. Beyond that, the military is a meritocracy. You EARN your promotions, rank, position and awards. The DoD needs to resume the campaigns that worked in the past because they appealed to the type of person who would excel in the military. DoD should renew relationships with organizations like NASCAR, NRA and professional rodeo associations. They should push into high school career day events and make it clear what the mission of the military is and what the benefits are.

Give me a break wih the Right-Wing Tropes- "Woke" means to be aware of what´s happening around you- you think that corporate America isn´t manipulating every facet of life? Woke means being aware how our systems of government manipulate and discriminate- isn´t that the exact same thing the Right is saying? As for diversity- this is the remedy that has been needed for more than 2 centuries, where "rights" initially meant white men with property, and has gradually been expanded to theoretically include everybody- But informal exclusion contnued in terms of schools, employment, service in the armed forces, social venues and housing . It was only a few years ago Tiger Woods couldn´t be a member of the Country Clubs he won tournaments at. Diversity is about opening access. It means the end of the "old-boy" networks, and all white, male promotion boards. Yeah, I can understand why White-boys who benefitted from such a system would like to see the way things were, continue to be. Not so long ago women were not allowd to serve in combat roles, despite ample examples of the proficiency of women warriors in Soviet and Israeli formations, Now they are combat pilots and commanders. Blacks were restricted from combat units, and relegated to servile functions including valets and porters, until the intervention of Eleanor Roosevelt, unleashing the famed "Red Tails" fighter pilots who stacked up an impressive record, or the All-Japaneses Americans many whom had been imprisoned in Japanse internment camps, only because of their parent´s ancestry, before becoming the most decorated unit in the ETO. See, Major, white boys have a long history and tendency to exclude, discriminate and condescend to others- which is why diversity needs to be a constant priority.

I take offense by your use of the term "White Boys." It is racist and has no place in honorable conversation about recruiting. Your racist language is unbecoming and should be admonished by Rally Point. At no time did I lament the contributions of ALL American fighters. I said the focus on WOKENESS and diversity weakens the mission of the American fighting force. The focus should be on lethality on the battlefield. You obviously read into my comments with a racist perspective and resentment towards the founders of this great nation. That's unfortunate, but also makes my point that focusing on race and diversity is counterproductive and divisive. We can't change history, but going forward, we can make sure everyone who is capable has the opportunity to serve, no matter their race or ethnic background, not because of it.
