Some states also offer dependents in your situation tuition free education in state universities.

Check your state's VA programs...in CA a dependent of a Vet with a 0% rating and above can go to public CSUs and UCs.

That was what I always understood. Now when you say check with my state, who exactly is that?

Usually every state has its own Department of Veterans Affairs (though it may be called something a little differently). If you go to your state's government website, you can probably look under the departments tab (or just google it) and see what they have to offer. Here's an example: https://veterans.maryland.gov/

However, you can pass your Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits to them and they can apply for a lot of scholarships and FASFA grants.

Kids up to age 26 get education benefits from VA it is about a grand a month. Some states also have education benefits for children of disabled vets.
