When they say school, do they mean an MOS producing school or a Skill/identifying school?
I they mean MOS, I would look into something you are interested in or an MOS that will set you up for a promotion.

Truck mechanic if you can. It will serve you well whether you decide to stay in the military or not. It is a good school in the service and, it is usually well paid in the civilian world.

Drop any school packet you want until they say no. Just because you're not airborne, Ranger or anything else nonheavy doesn't mean you won't be an asset. You'll bring knowledge to all your subordinates and soon your Soldiers.

If the first place, it would be nice if your unit actually gave you some ideas of what schools to attend. :) That being said, my advice is to start taking some classes in a field that would be helpful to you in the civilian world. If you're tech savvy, take some computer courses...or maybe some courses in a medical field. Take something that leads to a career that's going to be around for the long term.

Air assault. You'd be the fastest tanker in your unit. Scouts out!

Start with your military school to progress to the next rank. College is a good idea too. Also look at opportunities to increase your skills set. Ranger School is a great leadership school if you are planning on staying in the Army. If your base does not have a good training pipeline for the school, look to an Officer or NCO who is willing to mentor you. It makes for a great bullet point on their OER/NCOER, so it shouldn’t be too hard to do. I’ve read that the 82nd is looking to get back Armor into its ranks. It may be worth while to go to Airborne school if available. Air Assault is easier to get though. Good luck in whatever you choose to do.
