Contrary to what some commenters have said, try to go to Ranger School. You don’t need pre-Ranger but it helps. There’s a ton of of other schools that look good on an NCOER like MRT, career counselor, or battle staff if your S3 and CoC will approve them. Hell, I know there’s tanker master gunnery and maneuver courses. Also check out the master breacher course. Worst they can say is no

As one myself from 89-93... After my tour I joined the NG to fulfill my contract and change MOS..
It was just the right time for me and all worked out with 2 more tours and 21yrs later into retirement. 19K is in my blood. It was my first job with no regrets.

Take the Electronics Data Processing Test. Once you pass this test (which might take more than one try) you can attend the course to learn about computers, or maybe now go directly into cybersecurity. If you don't like computers, learn to. There are tons of jobs and incredible pay! Right now, we are discussing the establishment of a standalone Cyberforce. Discussing, not committing to it. The pay as a civilian after military service gets up to $150k a year.
I have been out of the Marine Corps for 30 years. I am now a GS-14 with CISA attending the National Defense University College of Information and Cyberspace working towards a master's degree with Colonel's from around the world.

I too started my military career as a tanker on the old M60A3 and finally the M1A2. Back when Fort Knox was the "school of armor". I later attended the Military Police School at Fort McClellan, AL while serving in the National Guard, I enjoyed it so much I attended an MP refresher/Train the trainer course at Fort Leonardwood, MO on the active side and conducted all of my overseas duty as garrison and combat operations as Military Police. This MOS can set you up for Law Enforcement duty on the civilian side should you ever decide to leave military service. I enjoyed being Military Police so much I took several Master Instructor courses and became a Military Police OCT/M (Observer Controller Trainer/Mentor) to deploying soldiers to garrison and combat zones overseas. Tanks were fun. but I feel the effects of climbing on and off of them in my old age. Just a share young Warrior.

I think you do want you. What have you been doing; have you look into Field Artillery. There is many MOS in Field Artillery there about five different jobs there. And there many more field to get into MP, and many more MOS.

Go to RANGER school. Only raving pussies would try to discourage you from attending. May as well go to Airborne beforehand so you can get the full school experience.
