Take the tracked vehicle mechanics course, or the master gunners course. You will be much more valuable to thw armor community, and commanders look at that down the line.

Yeah, you'll be spending ALL your time at the motor pool.

I did that.
I ended up in a Light Infantry unit carrying a mortar bipod.

Any of them . They all count as points somewhere because it’s school . I had A similar issue at bliss when Bradleys phased out for Strykers. Do any school you can get into . Then change your mos when it’s time to reup as part of your contact . Thank me later

I'm not Army so I haven't a clue. Why not look inter an interservice transfer? One of the sister services may have something you'd like. I agree with another post, get your education! No better way to have your college paid for than the military! People on the outside would kill to have those benefits...USE THEM!

Mountain school, 2 phases and worth the time, if only pathfinder was still available

That was fun. So was the Jungle Operations Training Center. Nothing will get your juices flowing like the Darby Phase at Ranger School.
If you enjoy being a grunt.
Airborne is just transportation to the battlefield. Once you land, you are a grunt !

I have attended NBC,mapreading and countless weapons classes, but,I wish I learned to weld, heavy equipment operations, civil engineer, or even learn the landscape of world affairs and become an attaché or aide.

Try Aviation, it is a very valuable skill which can be used in the civilian sector.

Ask your schools NCO about Master Gunner or Battle Staff, especially if you're thinking of staying long term. Not sure if you're in the proper rank range to do so though. Otherwise, look at getting your NCOES done; finish prior to promotions, if possible. Depending on your unit's OPTEMPO night college classes are also a viable option. If you're comfortable with distance learning OPTEMPO shouldn't be a concern.

I will give you solid advice that will benefit you in the long run. 1. If you plan to do 20 years, reclassify to a job that will transition or translate to the civilian world. You won't see any tanks rolling and shooting targets on I-95. The closest thing to a tank would be APC driver for some big city police department swat team. Until you are able to reclass, take schools or classes that will benefit you in the civilian world. Also get promoted to 5 ASAP. Here are some courses or schools: Haz-11/12/15, Air loaders planning course, SHARP/SARC, UPL, Bus Driver, Fork lift operator, IT security +, OSHA General industry courses, etc. It doesn't hurt to be diversified in different areas.

I was an 11B and honestly the best things I ever went to were Unit Movement Officer, Air Movement Control Officer with hazmat (AMCO/Chapter 33 moves), and we were using TC-AIMS II. Best additional duties that units love to see you have, and they are worth money on the outside for contracting. I got offered 4x the contracting pay for having those certs. Lots of extra work, but so worth the street cred you'll get. Having all 3 was like a godsend for the next unit I went to on priority 1 orders. Officers generally have no idea what they are doing but are tasked with these as LT's, so it helps to have an NCO that can show them/do it and they just sign off since it is just unrealistic for them to learn it all in one year. Hope this helps anyone that reads it.
